Polestar models use a camera behind the windshield for driver-support features such as Pilot Assist. That means both where the damage is and which glass is fitted matter. Polestar’s manuals don’t say exactly the same thing for the Polestar 2 and Polestar 4, so here they are separately.
What Polestar says
- Polestar 2 (2024 manual): If a scratch, crack or stone chip in front of one of the camera’s “windows” covers about 0.5 × 3.0 mm or more, the windshield must be replaced. Polestar advises against repairing damage in the area in front of the camera. Before the replacement, it should be confirmed that the correct windshield has been ordered and will be fitted, and after the replacement the camera must be recalibrated by a workshop.
- Polestar 4 (2025 manual): Even small damage in the camera and sensor area can affect the car’s forward detection and requires inspection by a technician. Polestar recommends not repairing it but replacing the whole windscreen. The new windscreen and its installation must meet Polestar’s specifications, and the forward-facing camera requires function checks and calibration.

What this means for the replacement
On a Polestar, damage in front of the camera almost always means a new windshield, and calibration is a fixed part of the job. Outside the camera area, smaller damage can often be repaired — see stone chip repair. We find the windshield that fits your Polestar from the registration number and equipment.
What we need to quote your Polestar
- The registration number — so we can see whether it is a Polestar 2, 3 or 4, and which year.
- Photos of the damage, one close-up and one from further back, so we can see the distance to the camera.
- A photo of the camera housing behind the rear-view mirror.
- Whether the car shows messages about the camera or Pilot Assist since the damage.
How it works
The replacement itself is a mobile service at the address you give us in Copenhagen and the surrounding area (up to about 50 km), when there is space and suitable conditions for the bonding work. At handover we tell you when the car can be driven and what to look out for in the first days — that depends on the adhesive and the weather. Our own team carries out the calibration at a separate, suitable location — not at your address. The location, logistics and price are agreed with you before anything is booked. Insurance and warranty
Whether the damage is covered depends on your own insurance. Under Insurance you can see what to have ready and how the process works. On our work we give a 2-year warranty on fitting and sealing from handover — see Quality and warranty.
Frequently asked questions about Polestar
How large can damage in front of the camera be before the windshield must be replaced?
In the Polestar 2 manual, Polestar says damage of about 0.5 × 3.0 mm or more in front of the camera’s “windows” means the windshield must be replaced — and Polestar advises against repairing in that area at all.
Can I use Pilot Assist straight after the replacement?
Polestar says the camera must be calibrated after a windshield replacement so the camera-based systems work correctly. We arrange the calibration with you as part of the job.
Does the same apply to the Polestar 3?
Here we refer to the manuals for the Polestar 2 and Polestar 4. If you have a Polestar 3, we check Polestar’s instructions for that car before quoting.
Do you also replace side and rear windows on Polestar?
Yes. See side window replacement and rear window replacement.
