Kia models such as the Picanto, Ceed, Niro, Sportage, EV6 and EV9 have very different equipment at the windshield. Some have a front camera for driver assistance, some also a head-up display. Below you can see what Kia says in the EV6 owner’s manual. If you have a different Kia, we check the equipment on your specific car.
What Kia says about the EV6
- Head-up display: A replacement windshield must be designed for the head-up display — otherwise the image may appear doubled. The windshield must also not be tinted or have any other metallic coating, because the head-up image may then become invisible.
- Front camera: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist uses the front view camera, among other sensors. Kia says never to install accessories or stickers on the windshield or tint it.
- The condition of the glass: The system may not work properly if the camera looks through a tinted, filmed or coated windshield or damaged glass.
- After replacement or repair: If the detecting sensors have been replaced or repaired, Kia says the car should be inspected by a professional workshop.

What this means for the replacement
The new glass must match the car’s camera and any head-up display, and it must not be tinted. Whether the camera needs calibration or a check afterwards depends on the car and Kia’s instructions. If the car needs calibration, our own team carries it out at a separate, suitable location — not at your address. The location, logistics and price are agreed with you before anything is booked.
What we need to quote your Kia
- The registration number — so we can look up model, year and variant.
- Photos of the damage, one close-up and one from further back.
- A photo of the area behind the rear-view mirror, where the camera sits.
- Whether the car has a head-up display, and whether the glass has a tinted band or film. If you’re unsure, answer “don’t know”.
How it works
The replacement itself is a mobile service at the address you give us in Copenhagen and the surrounding area (up to about 50 km), when there is space and suitable conditions for the bonding work. At handover we tell you when the car can be driven and what to look out for in the first days — that depends on the adhesive and the weather. If you drive an electric car such as the EV6 or Niro EV, read more about glass for electric cars.
Insurance and warranty
Whether the damage is covered depends on your own insurance. Under Insurance you can see what to have ready and how the process works. On our work we give a 2-year warranty on fitting and sealing from handover — see Quality and warranty.
Frequently asked questions about Kia
Why does the glass need to suit the head-up display?
According to Kia, glass that isn’t designed for a head-up display can produce double images. That’s why we choose the glass based on the car’s equipment.
Can I tint the windshield on my Kia?
Kia’s EV6 owner’s manual says the windshield must not be tinted and that no accessories or stickers should be fitted to it. Tint can both affect the camera and make the head-up image invisible.
Does the same apply to my Sportage or Niro?
Not necessarily. What we refer to is in Kia’s EV6 owner’s manual. We check the equipment on your car from the registration number.
Can a stone chip in front of the camera be repaired?
Damage in the camera area can affect collision assistance, so a new windshield is often the right solution there. We assess it from your photos. See stone chip repair.
