BMW is one of the best-selling car brands in Denmark. Many BMWs with the Driving Assistant system have a camera that sits in a bracket on the windshield. That makes the bracket’s position in the new glass critical.
What BMW says
In a service information bulletin about the camera system (KAFAS), BMW describes the camera as sitting in a mounting bracket glued to the windshield. If the bracket is not installed correctly, or the camera is not seated properly in it, the car can report faults such as “Camera calibration failed”, and the front collision warning can drop out. The bulletin covers a long list of models, including the 3 Series, 5 Series, X1, X3, X5 and i3 with Driving Assistant.

What we need to quote your BMW
- The registration number. We use it to look up model, year and variant, so we don’t have to guess which glass the car has.
- Photos of the damage — ideally one close-up and one from further back, so we can see where on the glass it is.
- A photo of the area behind the rear-view mirror, if you can. That is typically where the camera and sensors sit, and it helps us confirm the equipment.
- Your answers about equipment in the quote wizard (camera, rain sensor, heated windshield, head-up display). If you’re unsure, answer “don’t know” — that’s better than a guess.
Equipment that can change which glass fits
Besides the camera, a rain and light sensor, heating and a head-up display can determine which glass fits your BMW. With a head-up display, the glass must be designed for it. We confirm the equipment from the registration number and your photos before you get a quote.
How the replacement works
We replace the glass as a mobile service at the address you give us, when conditions allow the bonding work. The camera bracket must sit correctly in the new glass, and after the replacement we make sure the camera system works as it should. If your car needs calibration, our own team carries it out at a separate, suitable location — not at your address. The location, logistics and price are agreed with you before anything is booked.
Frequently asked questions about BMW
Why does the camera bracket matter so much on a BMW?
Because the camera sits in a bracket bonded to the glass. BMW describes how an incorrectly installed bracket can cause camera calibration faults. The glass and bracket must therefore fit your specific car.
My BMW reports a camera fault after an earlier replacement — can you help?
Tell us about the fault message, and send a photo of the area behind the rear-view mirror if you can. We will assess what is needed and give you a quote before anything is started.
Do you replace glass on BMW EVs such as the i4 and iX?
Yes. We replace glass on all BMW models, including the EVs. See EV glass.
Does my BMW have a head-up display?
We can usually tell from the registration number and the car’s equipment. If you are unsure, answer “don’t know” in the quote wizard and we will clarify it.
Does your car have damaged glass? Start the quote wizard with your registration number, or call 31 62 23 38.
